Neran embroidery is practised by the women of the Sodha and Jadeja communities from the Kutch region of Gujarat. It has a tiny square or diamond shaped unit resembling the human eye. The unit is oulined in a dark colour, filled in with a bright colour and highlighted in white, hence the name neran, meaning eye. Kutch Craft Collective is a collaborative platform of 5 organizations from Kutch and was formed to revive the old crafts of Kutch, while creating livelihood opportunities for the artisan families. Amongst the 5 organizations of KCC, Qasab Kutch Craftswomen Producer Co. Ltd. is an artisanal cooperative of more than 1500 artisans from across 11 ethnic communities settled in Kutch.
