Light as a feather, this Jamdani dupatta is a beautiful addition to your wardrobe. Always in style, always in season. The tassels give it a lovely fall and drape.
A fine muslin textile made of cotton, on which decorative motifs are woven using a hand loom is known as Jamdani. Dating back to almost 2000 years, the Jamdani weaving tradition of Bengal is considered to be one of the most time and labor-intensive forms of hand loom weaving, requiring great skill and dexterity. A world famous fabric, Jamdani is characterised by it's geometric or floral designs.
Traditionally woven around modern day Dhaka, an early reference to Indian origins of muslin is found in the book of Periplus of the Erythraean Sea(map available on Peepul Tree) and in the accounts of Arab, Chinese and Italian travelers and traders.
