This classic Maheshwari stole beautifully captures the hues of a sunny, summer sunrise. Textured with the inclusion of silk threads in the weft, this stole is ideal for adding some joy to your day!
The Maheshwari carries forward the legacy and vision of a phenomenal queen. Considered one of the ‘youngest’ weaves of India, the Maheshwari was specially created in the 18th century, when Queen Ahilyabai Holkar invited weavers to settle in her capital, Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh. With the coolness of cotton, the lustre of silk and a lightness ideal for the hot Indian plains, the designs of the Maheshwari are inspired by the temples and ghats of Ahilyabai’s capital. The non-profit organization, Rehwa Society works with the weavers of Maheshwar, and was found by Richard Holkar and his wife Sally Holkar who revived the tradition of Maheshwari weaving in 1978.
