Ethnic yet contemporary, this set of 3 reversible ikat and kantha embroidered holders can hold planters, stationery, accessories & more. Made by homebound women artisans, these are a fusion of the contemporary and the traditional, and celebrate the Ikat weave and the Kantha embroidery of West Bengal which come together on the earthy and sturdy natural jute fibre base, native to Bengal. Ikat is a unique weave, where the threads of the warp and weft are patiently tied and then dyed multiple times, to acquire beautiful patterns and colour combinations. Kantha is a simple running stitch, used to put together layers of fabrics, typically old sarees into blankets and quilts. Using fine jute and traditional hand made weaves, these Ohrna products celebrate all that is Natural. Ohrna is a not-for-profit which works with artisans across India. It helps create local livelihoods, sustainable products and preserves some of India’s rich craft traditions. Values which are at the core of Peepul Tree.
